Our Skill Set

Our extensive construction and property experience empowers us to deploy aerial tech with greater insight and precision

Multi-Sectoral Experience

Hovafly’s founders have been working within the construction and property sectors since 2005. We started using aerial technology as a means to solve inspection and survey challenges in 2017, and immediately realised the benefits aerial tech can bring.

As qualified surveyors, building contractors and property developers we’ve participated in and completed a wide range of construction and property projects over the years. From prime property refurbishments to supported living initiatives, residential and commercial, there’s not much we haven’t seen and not many obstacles we haven’t had to overcome.

There are an increasing number of drone operators now offering roof/ building surveys alongside their other creative offerings, and many will offer to employ a surveyor at additional cost to interpret aerial data capture.

Our experience tells us that in order to get the best understanding of building defects (and especially issues in an early phase of defect) a technical understanding of construction is not just beneficial, but often critical while the inspection is live.

Recognising the first stages of a defect allows our remote pilots to focus upon potential issues in real time, enabling us to advise our client to a greater level of detail than a drone pilot without a construction background.

Qualified, Safe, Insured

Hovafly Limited hold a full Operational Authorisation (OA) as granted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This means we’ve been assessed for competency on every element of operating an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), which requires a detailed understanding of UK airspace law, flight planning and risk assessment, as well as many other documentary, safety and flying skill requirements.

We employ a CAA certified workflow process that covers everything from initial project briefing and client expectation through to final deliverables and ongoing support.

Additionally we are Gold Certified members of Drone Safe Register, and commercial members of ARPAS (The UK Drone Association).

It is a legal requirement for any drone service supplier operating commercially in the UK to hold adequate insurance as specified by the CAA and under UK law. Hovafly are insured by Coverdrone, the leading drone insurance specialist. We are able to adjust our insurance cover in order to accommodate any project requirements.
